Summary

An avalanche killed 2 people in British Columbia, and the police say that it may have been caused by 2 or 3 sledders. The mountain where this happened, was hosting an informal event with around 200 people attending.It was o so said that it could have been a worst tragedy. The avalanche happened near Calgary and Vancouver. The police also searched hotels to find if there were missing people. Helicopters were sent to check if the area was safe for future events.

Why does this impacts us?

This news article is shocking and it impacts us because it was yet another earthquake. It is about the fourth earthquake that has struck this year. I believe that this is something to worry about, because who knows if there's going to be another. There was no bias. That was why it impacts us in our group.

Summary:

An earthquake hit Turkey in the morning of Monday, estimated by US geologists as being 5.9, while Turkish scientists estimated to be 6.0. It killed an estimated 60 people in the southeastern part of Turkey. The earthquake hit in the Elazig province. Aftershocks included from little tremors to a 5.5 aftershock. The Turkish prime minister announced that they would send rescuers and help for a day or so.

In the aftermath of the Chile earthquake, aid and security have come to the most hard-hit areas, but people complain that they haven't had aid yet. Chile's outgoing president, Michele Bachelet, has urged the Chilean people to remain calm. The number of deaths has increased to 802, with about 600 happening in the Maule region. In the region of Concepcion, 30 trucks arrived with food and water supplies, and are currently being distributed. Residetns in Maule have said that the government is only worried about the big cities, because they haven't seen any help. Close to 13,000 chilean soldiers have been sent to Maule and bordering areas.

Summary


The opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics were overshadowed by
the death of an athlete, bringing concerns about the games' security. Nodar Kumaritashvili of the Republic of Georgia, was riding his sled a about ninety miles per hour, one of the fastest times ever recorded on the track he was on, when close to the end, he fell to his left. After falling, he violently landed on his back, while paramedics arrived immediatly.He was pronounced dead in a hospital. The games' security will likely face critisism from both athletes and organizers.Although already have other athletes crashed while trainig during this time, but survived. The track was immediately closed.
